This means on the days and times listed above, vehicles must not park in any residents/business parking bay on these roads unless they display a valid Green Lanes CPZ (GLA & GLB) permit or visitors’ permit. Existing parking restrictions apply.

HACKNEY ROADS

To ensure that residents in the Finsbury Park area are not impacted by the increase in visitors driving to the events, Hackney Council will be extending the hours of control in Parking Zones G and G2 during the six show days to 11pm. During that time, vehicles will need to display a valid permit to park in any of the resident permit, permit holder only, and business permit bays in the areas between the hours set out below:

Zone G

  • Friday 8th & Friday 15th July between 6.30pm – 11pm
  • Saturday 9th & Saturday 16th July between 11am – 11pm

Warning signs and posters will be displayed in the areas affected to advise drivers of the changes to the hours of operation. Please contact Hackney Parking Services on 020 8356 8877 or via email at consultation.parking@hackney.gov.uk if you have any queries.

ISLINGTON ROADS – Soft Closure to prevent anti-social behaviour in resident parking in Islington

Although we are encouraging everybody who attends the concerts to use public transport Islington Council are putting in place further parking controls to ensure that the lives of their residents are not disrupted by additional traffic.

The controls will be similar to those in place on Arsenal match days, and act as a safeguard for residents. There will be additional enforcement patrols as the controlled parking hours will reflect arrival and departure times of festival goers. There will be no cost to those who already have a residents parking permit. There will be road closures so that the venue can be emptied quickly, efficiently and above all, safely. We do not plan to divert traffic along residential roads and all signed diversions will be on A‐roads. We aim to keep duration of any closures as short as possible. Festival Republic are working with all three borough councils and their colleagues in TFL and the emergency services to minimise any disruption caused by these events.

There will be a soft road closure at the Junctions of St Thomas’s Road, Prah Road, Ambler Road, Monsell Road, and then along Gillespie Road at the junctions of Plimsoll Road, Ambler Road, St Thomas Road. At each point of the closure, there will be event marshals to allow:

i) Any resident permit holder through or resident with a copy of the residents letter that was sent to your door

ii) Any resident with proof of residency in the zone (as some may not be permit holders)

iii) Any vehicle which claims to be visiting a resident in the zone, we request that local residents ask for their visitors to supply the name and address of the resident they are visiting.

The event marshal will also link in with the dedicated event response team for this location.

UPDATES FOR 2022

UPDATES FOR 2022

Within the plans for 2022 we have retained some key improvements made in 2019 and added some suggestions raised at the debriefs post event to improve the experience of the events for both customers and local residents:

Seven Sisters Road – closure shortened from Hornsey Road to Fonthill Road to allow Islington residents vehicle access at all times.

The offsite security in the local area has been increased greatly. There will be patrols in Brownswood, Highbury West, Stroud Green and Finsbury Park Ward. We urge you to report anything untoward to a member of security patrolling locally. They will link directly in to our Event Control room and a response team can be sent to you.

We are retaining the additional phone line this year and have 3 hotline operators to ensure all your calls can get through. We urge you to pick up the phone if you encounter any problems.

We have a dedicated resident liaison officer who will be out and about in the streets all weekend and can come round and pay you a visit if you would like one.

An exit route has been built internally to the park fencing which will see the audience exit the arena at the Manor House end of the festival site. From here they will turn right and make their way down the side of the festival fencing towards Finsbury Park Gate. Customers for Finsbury Park Station will remain inside the park and queue towards Stroud Green Road Gate where they will exit the park and immediately enter the station. Seven Sisters Road will still be used for egress in addition to this internal egress route. We have increased security in the side streets so as to have a minimal impact on residents.

Daily meetings with residents will take place in all three boroughs over the event days.

Following focus groups with residents in 2019, we worked with Uber to minimise the disruption taxi pick-ups have on local residents at the end of each night. Drivers will have a designated pick up location on Osbourne Road and a geo fenced map will be circulated to all drivers which informs them of the permitted pick up zone. If you live on Alexandrea Grove, Finsbury Park Road, Wilberforce Road, Queens Drive or Portland Rise or in the streets between Monsell Road and Seven Sisters Road and wish to book an Uber or private hire taxi on show days then please be aware that you will have to book it to a nearby location between 20:00 and 00:00. This measure is in place to minimize traffic, anti-social behavior and noise issues in the most vulnerable streets around the park.

It is important to note that the corner of the Twelve Pins Pub has become congested in the past with pub users and festival goers walking towards the event. We are deploying security to this location each day to assist with the flow of people.

A dedicated team of cleaners will be rotating between Finsbury Park Station and Finsbury Park Gate throughout the day to prevent any build up of litter on the entry route to the park.

We are working closely with our partners including the Metropolitan Police, to constantly review the security situation and we encourage the public to report any suspicious activity to the Anti-Terrorism Hotline on 0800 789 321 or 999 in an emergency.

WILL THE CONCERT AFFECT PUBLIC TRANSPORT?

WILL THE CONCERT AFFECT PUBLIC TRANSPORT?

The road closures listed above will have an effect on the buses as there will be diversions in place. Finsbury Park & Manor House stations will be heavily congested on all 6 event days from 22:00 as a large number of the customers attending the concert will use these stations.

On Sunday 10 July and Sunday 17 July the show finishes earlier so these stations will be heavily congested from 21:30. For further information on the affected routes and services please check on the TFL website.

Please note that heavy queues are expected at Finsbury Park Station. We advise using the City North entrance and exit to avoid event footfall.

WHAT MEASURES ARE BEING TAKEN TO STOP PEOPLE PARKING IN THE RESIDENTIAL AREAS SURROUNDING THE PARK?

WHAT MEASURES ARE BEING TAKEN TO STOP PEOPLE PARKING IN THE RESIDENTIAL AREAS SURROUNDING THE PARK?

Concert visitors have been advised that there is no parking in the area around Finsbury Park and they should plan their route using public transport. Cones and signage will be positioned at the entry roads to surrounding residential areas to reinforce the restrictions on concert traffic parking. CPZ match/event day parking controls will operate as necessary. A soft closure will be implemented in both Hackney and Islington for residents access only.

IMPACTS ON THE PARK

IMPACTS ON THE PARK

The build for the event commences on Wednesday 29 June at 07:00 and we will be clear of the park by 20:00 on Friday 22 July. We appreciate that it’s not just the event itself that causes an impact on the park and the local community. We have arranged our build and breakdown periods to cause minimum disruption to the regular users of the park; details of the phased occupation and routes through the park are on the attached map. We will protect trees from damage throughout our use of the park and put down ground protection for heavy traffic flow areas. Please see the map on this website for further information.

OXFORD ROAD GATE

OXFORD ROAD GATE

Oxford Road Gate will remain open this year and the park will be closed to all public vehicles and parking – with the exception of disabled badge holders and permit holders.

LOCAL SCHOOLS, PUBLIC NUISANCE & EGRESS

LOCAL SCHOOLS, PUBLIC NUISANCE & EGRESS

We will only have a single main entrance to the site (through the Finsbury Park Gate), which will reduce the number of people around the Oxford Rd entrance. Oxford Rd and Endymion Rd will not be used as an end of night egress route in our plans (although could still be used as an emergency egress route) with the majority of the audience remaining inside the park until they reach Finsbury Park Gate or Stroud Green Road Gate. For those requiring services from Manor House Station, they will queue inside the park at Manor House Gate. We are in regular contact with Stroud Green Primary School to discuss our plans and how we minimise our impact on them.

Festival Republic have contracted each local borough to provide the external waste management in the local streets. Some new roads have been added to the route for this year to ensure nothing is missed. Teams from Hackney and Haringey will clean Seven Sisters Rd at the end of the day and stewards will be in place to manage the egress and queuing at the end of the night.

POLICE

POLICE

A police operation will be taking place within the locality of Finsbury Park focused on crime prevention during the event days. The MPS have worked closely with the organisers, local authorities & residents in the run up to the event. During the event officers will be visible to respond to any incident within the locality. The operation uses a mixture of officers from the local area & some from further afield. There may be operational police requirements why the police need to deploy the helicopter to the vicinity during the event & afterwards. We understand it does cause disruption to residents and we will endeavour to do our best to keep it to a minimum.
